1839 Full gold sovereign
Victoria Young Head Shield
Minted in the Royal Mint London
One of the rarest Victorian Sovereigns...
Rated R2 by Marsh
The 1839 Sovereign is a very special coin, and one of the most hardest 19th Century Sovereigns to obtain. It is one of the few coins which is easier to find in proof variant than the bullion coin. Like the other early Victorian Sovereigns, the coin has a high-relief portrait of the Queen designed by William Wyon, with Jean-Baptiste Merlin’s splendid shield design on the reverse.
Coin weighs 7.98g of 22ct gold
