Product Description

1846 Full Gold Sovereign
Rated Rare 2 by Marsh No 27a
Mint error the number 4 was struck over an inverted 4 in date
Obverse design is by William Wyon and the reverse by Jean Baptist's Merlen.
This coin along with its mint error has been authenticated by NGC as Almost Uncirculated details, but unfortunately there is a scratch running from Queen Victoria's eye across her hairline which prevents a grade been assigned.
The coin has been pictured at x2 magnification for the full slab view and  x4 magnification  for the close up view, the scratch at this level is clearly evident, but with the naked eye much, much less so.
