Produced to commemorate the coronation of George VI, 5001 4 coin proof Sovereign sets were minted in 1937. The set comprised of the £5 Crown, double Sovereign, full Sovereign and half Sovereign. Over the years, many of these sets have been split up and the coins sold separately.
The 1937 Sovereign set is unique in that the coins were minted with plain edge, rather than the usual milled edge
